Dudley Moore/Michael Peacock – Rhapsody on the Themes from Six Weeks

This is a textural transformation of the themes and harmony from Dudley Moores soundtrack to the 1982 film ”Six Weeks”, a drama about a 12 year old girl dying from leukaemia. I found the music in a book in an second hand music store in Glasgow, Thistle Music, and immediately fell in love with the harmony.

The original score is played in a fairly improvisatory jazz ballad fashion, I wrote this to solidify and add weight to the texture of the music, in order to transform it into a more substantial piece of solo piano music in a classical style, hopefully with some success.

Francis Poulenc – Cavatina from Cello Sonata

A solo arrangement of the in turns sweet, majestic, malevolent, and uplifting Cavatina from Poulenc’s Sonata Pour Violincelle, completed in 1948. The arrangement is designed to sound true to the original, just re-organising the parts so the cello can sing through properly.
